What is church membership?

In the New Testament, we find that once people became followers of Jesus Christ, they identified themselves with, and committed themselves to, a particular local body of believers (Acts 2:42-47). In this manner, first-century Christians held each other accountable and spurred one another on to spiritual growth (Hebrews 10:24,25). Membership was and still is a natural progression in the process of committing oneself to the vision and ministries of a local church family.

In keeping with this New Testament model, Faith Community Church recognizes the value of formal membership and the important role it can play in challenging people to take another step in their commitment to the Faith Community Church family and their spiritual walk with God.

We recognize that not everyone will feel led to join the Faith Community Church as a member.  It is also understood that those who choose not to be members are still viewed as a vital part of the church family and will have many opportunities to be involved and serve.

Membership is an awesome privilege and responsibility and should not be entered into lightly.  As you go through the following material, please keep in mind the fact that members will be teaching our children, setting policies and directions for the church, voting on values and recommendations, affirming leadership, and serving in leadership positions as well as and calling pastors to serve at Faith Community Church.

The following is a summary of the membership process and requirements:

1.) Membership is for Christ-followers who are at least 18 years old and are living in close fellowship with God.
